1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work properly, to improve performance, and to provide information to the website operator. This policy also covers similar technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage.

2. Our approach

Retire Destinations is a privacy-respecting editorial site. We use a minimal set of strictly necessary storage entries, plus privacy-friendly Google Analytics that runs only after you consent (and in cookieless Consent Mode otherwise). We do not run third-party advertising trackers, behavioural profiling pixels, or cross-site fingerprinting scripts on this Site.

Our hosting provider may set short-lived technical cookies for security, abuse prevention and load balancing. These are also classified as strictly necessary and contain no personal identifiers beyond your IP address.

4. Categories explained

  • Strictly necessary — required for the Site to work. These do not require consent under the EU ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR because you have actively requested the service they support.
  • Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode v2. By default analytics storage is denied, so no analytics cookies are set and any measurement pings are cookieless and anonymised. We only enable analytics cookies once you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time (see section 5).
  • Marketing / advertising — not used. We do not run ad cookies or remarketing pixels.

Analytics is the only non-essential category on this Site. To withdraw or change consent, reset the banner below and choose "Reject non-essential" — analytics will stay in cookieless Consent Mode. You can also:
